The $25 million Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program (LHMPP) provides grants to help eligible entities develop or update local hazard mitigation plans, or to share hazard mitigation planning costs funded through other federal sources.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development administers Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program (CDBG-MIT) funds, which are implemented through the Texas General Land Office. Hazard mitigation plan development and approval oversight is administered by FEMA and implemented through the Texas Division of Emergency Management. Grant awards range from $20,000 to $100,000.
Applications are currently being accepted. They will be processed on a first come, first served basis until July 2027 or until funding runs out.
Counties interested in applying should visit the LHMPP’s webpage to find an application form and more information about project categories and eligibility requirements. Applicants also can call (512) 770-4900 or email LHMPP.email@example.com for additional assistance and information.
